You know how it is, you're cruising your favorite music superstore one day, and you look up at the wall. Suddenly, there it is, "the" guitar. It almost jumps off the wall into your hands. You simply must own it!

That's how it was with my 57 Precision Reissue. It is simply one of the most beautiful guitars I have seen. This one was used, but had only one small surface scratch on the back. Otherwise, the tobacco sunburst finish was perfect. It needed a good setup, but when I played it, the tone, you know, that classic "P" tone, was there.

The neck is wide and flat, very easy to fret and has a comfortable feel. The bass is relatively light, and balances well. It comes with the chrome pickup and bridge covers, which were not attached on mine. Thankfully, they came with the guitar, as did the tweed case (with the cool orange plush interior). I have not attached the covers yet, but it would certainly add to the classic vibe if I did.

This bass is very solid and the attention to detail is superb. Based on what I have read, it is authentic to the original down to the cloth insulation on the wiring. The tuners are the riveted type, which work in reverse (takes some getting used to). It came with roundwound strings (Fender nickel, I believe). This bass screams for a set of TI flats, but I decided to stay with nickel rounds when I had it set up. The D'Addario Slowounds sound very bright and punchy.

I've owned the guitar for several months now. When I bought it, I didn't expect to play it much - my main bass is a Fender American Standard Jazz bass and I generally prefer the Jazz sound (more cut and less growl) and thinner neck. However, this bass has such a classic sound that fits well in the classic rock band I play in. I have been playing it about 50% of the time, sharing duties with my jazz.

If you are looking for a vintage vibe type P-Bass, very well executed, then I would definitely check this one out. If you can find a great deal on as used one, so much the better.
