This is a really, really awesome bass for the money, that's the bottom line. It's my second bass - my first one was a fretless 1995 Standard P, and while it was a decent bass, I like my Jazz even better. It's easily comparable to the American Standard J-Bass, but for less than half the cost...the only differences are the body wood (alder?), the pickups, which are supposedly 'vintage', the option of a maple fretboard (but I prefer Rosewood anyway) and a 'American Standard' bridge. Personally, I would buy the Mexi Standard basses over the Am. Stds, because for the price of one Am. Std. Jazz you could get both a Mexi Std. Jazz and P bass. Basically, this bass is simply awesome, especially for the amount of money I paid for it.
