Electronics Active

(sorry about spelling) This is a fine bass for a player at my standards. I bought this bass during the summer over \'02 at Guitar Center in OKC. It was either a Warwick Streamer Standard or this Fender Jazz deluxe. I went with the Fender because it had active electronics and looked better. The warwick was a nasty black greyish color and it had been at that store forever. My fender is black with red tortiseshell pickguard. It looks amazing. The sound of a fender is great, due to the fact that it has active electronics. I do not use a pick unless it is necisary. I use my fingers or I slap. This bass sounds great if you use a pick or fingers. Slap, on the other hand, its\'t that good. The sound the strings make when I slap are good, but the body and neck just don\'t cut it. Fender basses arn\'t really made for that. So if you are into the slap, then go with something else.

I have total control over the tone i want. I have five adjusting knobs- Volume, pickup, mid, trebble and bass. The treble and bass are stack on top of each other. The neck is a nice, average neck. The string spacing is a TINY bit bigger than I wanted, but its something that you don\'t notice unless you look for it. The headstock and tuning machines are very very nice and i see nothing wrong with them. The bridge though, I don\'t like him very much. Sometimes when I play maybe my E string, the bridge will rattle a bit, and it gets on my nerves. I think it can be fixed though... Another thing is that there is a little screw that is around the input thing (where you connect your wire from your amp to your bass, I\'m sorry I don\'t know the name, I should know since I\'ve been playing for 3 years now... sorry I\'m stupid) The screw will unscrew itself over time and playing and I have to screw it back to place. Those are the only flaws of this bass.

Overall, this is a nice bass for someone who doesn\'t like to slap that much. Thats the only thing I disagree on on this bass. Otherwise, its great! The construction is decent, its not American or Japinese made (or chinese?) unlike Squires.

Deluxe is the way to go, it is worth it to me. I will keep this bass for about a few more years until i go with a warwick (the best ever).

NOW, below... I will rate this bass strictly. If one gets an 80% or something, don\'t freak out- it still is good.

Construction 85%
(Just cuz its 85% doesnt mean its terrible. 100% goes to Warick basses (hand c
rafted).)
Appearance 98%
(Looks beautiful. Love it.)
Playability 90%
(I can get some good action on it, but slap just sucks playbility wise.)
Sound 95%
(Deluxe makes a difference! Sounds amazing using all ways playing)
Value 90%
(Pretty good)
Overall 90%
(Nice, clean, smooth bass. Good bass for the average and serious bass player.
)
