This bass is incredible. After 12 years of buying 'fad' basses, I finally wised up. This bass can handle everything from country, to blues, to funk. A very versitile instrument to say the least. At first I was leary about the pickup combination because fender has always had awesome P and J style basses so why fart around with a experimental combination. You see, I originally went into the dealer to purchase a stingray bass. The lack of a mellow bottom end turned me off to the stingray (the ballsy punch was superb, though). This bass came as close to the stingray in pure balls, plus the benefit of the world reknowned P-bass. Plus, you get active controls. One negative comment: the neck is a little on the 'slow' side. The tuning machines at first disappointed me because they were not original fender style, but they have an extremely fine tuning mechanism that I fell in love with over time.
