If you're looking for a Fender Jazz, go for the vintage series.
I switched from a American Standard Jazz Bass to the '75 reissue, and
it's worth the extra bucks.
Being happy with the American Standard, i tried the '75, and never went
back to the American Standard.
This bass sings already without an amp. After plugging in you'll notice
the high output. It's pickups are passive but the output is like
active. From the typical "Jaco growl" to a motown "humb";
it's all in there. The vintage pickups are making the difference.
I also love the build-quality of this series, no fretnoise (even at very
low action) nicely grained wood and a high gloss finish on both the body
and neck, neckbindings, block-inlays, excellent fretwork (vintage style
frets).
Every time i play this instrument, i'm amazed by it. So Fender did a
good job!
