Appearance: I know appearance is not the most important aspect of a new intrument but I am putting it first because it is what draws us to an instrument. Hands down, one of the most beautiful instruments I have ever seen! Excellent choice of woods, nice grains and colours. The gold hardware adds to its boutique look and the graphite overlay on the headstock looks downright cool. The single "c" inlay (abalone) on the 12th fret is very nice, personally i think large dots look cheap (except on fender P's and J's). All together a very appealing bass.

Construction: SOLID!! Everything about this bass is solid and it spells quality. People always judge products by their name and I am certain that if ace players gave this bass a chance, they would re-evaluate their whole outlook on Peavey instruments. This bass is made in the USA. Invisible gluelines, perfect frets, expertly cut graphite nut, solid jack and just an all around solid bass.

Electronics/Sound: If I had to pick one word to describe this basses electronics it would have to be quiet. Sure, they sound amazing, you can get nearly every tone in the world out of these pickups but what surprised me the most was that they are studio quiet. I had the eq cranked on the bass and my amp, playing right infront of my amp and under a set of flourescent lights and there was not one peep coming from this baby! As I mentioned earlier, almost every sound is possible with these electronics, from; fat reggae and honky blues tones, fat slap tones with just the right amount of highs (not too sizzling) and this bass is perfect for modern rock bass (incubus --> tool --> primus). All in all you can dial in nearly any tone and all settings have a desirable quality to them. Oh yeah, the pickups follow the curve of the fingerboard so the tone is very even across the register, every note from low B to the highest g is even.

Value: I bought this bass used, but it had never been played or touched since it was purchased. I paid $1700 Canadian (about $1000 US) so I saved a bundle. I've seen these babies listed for $2499 US in bass player for a Peavey Contest.

Playability: This is what it all boils down to. This is one of the most important aspects of an instrument. This bass is definatly playable, I cannot put it down. Fastest neck I've ever played, very comfortable body contours, perfectly balanced seated or standing, due to long upper horn, nice amount of room for slapping and popping, pickups placed nicely for thumb-rests. All around excellent playability.

Overall: An amazing bass.
