If I had a dollar for every time that I have received a compliment on this bass, I would have paid for it again! This instrument has continually exceeded expectations and proven to be a wonderful musicmaking tool.

PROS:

The lightweight body is very well balanced and offers unobstructed access to the highest registers of the neck. The slim and fast neck is among the most comfortable that I have ever played; fatigue just is not an issue. The combination of the 35" scale neck, the through-body construction, and the wenge body top offers an extremely focused and musical low end response. The overall bass construction is very solid and clean. The setup was virtually perfect (for me) right out of the rugged hardshell case (included).

CONS:

Electronics. The standard electronics package is not bad, but it fails to deliver the flexibility, warmth, and complexity of other electronics packages. I found the midrange control to be centered on a "honking" frequency that I found to be virtually useless.

SOUND:

Tight and punchy, but without too much "mwaah." Sometimes I missed the relative lack of that sound, but overall I appreciated the bass' flexibility more. I could dial in huge dub tones, raspy midrange sounds, or just a simple, clean, and solid bass sound. The bass' construction and 18-volt electronics help to ensure that the sound will not get lost in the mix.

SUMMARY:

This instrument is an outstanding value! This as a very well-thought-out bass that plays like it costs twice as much. However I am considering an upgrade to the electronics in order to expand my tonal options.
