You can't get a warmer tone on a bass. The slimmer-than-regular neck allows you to make the fretless "speak" much better than some of the larger-necked basses.
I have never gigged with this bass, however. It is too warm and forgiving. If I were to use it I would have to plug it directly into the PA. I would imagine those of you who are more serious about their equipment would have the tools to bring this bass up to gig-quality tone and power. For me, it's just fun to mess around on.
Aside from tightening the knobs every so often, the construction has been solid. The fingerboard is beginning to show some wear, but that's due to several years of play-time.
