I had to write this review in light of the misinformation in some other reviews. This bass has dual single coil capabilities in the tone controls, 10 thru 8 is single coil and anything below 8 is humbucker. the toggle switch is a phase switch available only when both pickups are selected. It also has some effect when only the bridge pickup is selected (which is an unitentional feature) The neck is nothing like a J bass . It is a very solid P type. The low E note is very very solid and sustains wonderfully. This is a wonderful recording bass but it is a log when it comes to weight, it can be a pain on a long live gig. You can find these cheap, around 200 is not unusual.
