I tried out many many basses before deciding on the Palaedium. The two humbuckers kick out a HIGH GAIN passive output (it's higher gain than my Dyna-Bass active or homemade P style bass with Jackson active system). The sound is BIG and FAT, very midrangy. This works very well for picking and/or fingering with a light touch. IMO it is terrible for slapping (I got a Mexi-Jazz bass for that), but I rarely slap so it's no problem for me!

The neck is COMPLETELY INSANE!! It is incredibly fast and thin. It's just the most amazing wood bass neck I've ever felt. The only thing better that I tried was a B-Quad 4 which has a Modulous neck. This bass is very comfy to play and sounds fantastic. Designed by Jeff Berlin. The craftmanship by Peavey is nice except there are nicks around one of the strap buttons. The electronics don't hum a bit.
