This bass is a keeper. The first thing that impressed me when I first played it is how effortlessly my fingering hand wandered over the neck. Magic -- I could have sworn the bass was enchanted. The second thing was the incredible tone of this instrument -- great fretless \"mwah\" and growl. The active electronics let you dial in just about any EQ you want, and the mid-boost switch really helps cut through and boost the great fretless tone characteristics of this instrument. I\'m fortunate enough to have lived near the old L.A. Bass Exchange where I was able to play all sorts of high-end and boutique fretless basses, and not one of them came close to the Pedulla in tone or playability.

As with any fretless, the setup is paramount. This one was close to perfect when I got it, but the neck did need a little tweaking to get the perfect \"buzz\" sound. The access to the truss rod is good, and the supplied wrench has a good hand grip, making truss-rod adjustments easy. I\'m a tweaker, so I just removed the truss rod cover (wood with wood screws) and left it off for a couple of days until I was satisfied that all of the little back and forth neck adjustments I made had stabilized.

I haven\'t needed \"real\" customer service, but every question I had before and after purchase was answered promptly and pleasantly by e-mail or phone.

The body is light. Only drawback is that due to bottom curve in body and weight distribution, I found it necessary to shift the bass to a different position than I was accustomed to when practicing while seated.

Overall: great sounding and playing bass, solid construction. Highly recommended.
