I ordered this bass new from Bass Central in Florida (outstanding service!). Specifications included: AAAAA Flame Maple, Amber Sunburst Finish, Bartolini P/J Pickup Configuration, Gold Hardware, Hardshell Case.
Pedulla offers a video that shows the craftsmanship process from start to finish along with a color catalogue for finish options. Go to their website to read their guide to choosing a bass....very helpful information on the site (www.pedulla.com).
Once I received delivery of the bass I plugged it into my Eden Navigator Preamp and was blown away by the clarity of which this bass sounds. You really can go from the singing rear Jazz Pickup to the bluesy P bass sounds quite easily. Pedulla takes their time in setting these instruments up & the PRECISION fretwork really lends the bass an edge for some fast action. Popping & Fingerstyle playing are equally impressive. Even my girlfriend noticed the killer sound qualities without a soliciatation of her opinion.
The fit and finish is superb on this bass. The Amber Sunburst finish has a great polyester topcoat that shines like a mirror. The AAAAA Flame Maple is gorgeous & the whole instrument just speaks professional grade quality.
Included with the bass was one of the best manuals I have seen yet....Mike Pedulla gives a great practical lesson on how to set the instrument up & how to keep the bass in optimal playing order. They back the bass with a 2 year warranty. I spoke with Mike about the figure of wood I was seeking before they placed my bass into production & he was right on with his suggestions. His administrative person, Christine, was very helpful when I called a year earlier to request a catalogue. She called me with a couple of production updates once my order was placed & is a wonderful ambassdaor to the Pedulla company. Service befitting to a high ticket purchase.
This is the one that I use all the time now....I would definitely replace it if it were lost or stolen.
If you are looking for a handmade instrument that will perform for you in many versatile playing settings you owe it to yourself to invest in a Pedulla bass.
