This bass is beautiful, and the workmanship is absolutely flawless: 4-bolt neck tightly in a pocket which is contoured in back for unobstructed acces to ALL frets, all frets immaculately dressed and seated, smooth yet tight action of all pots. The bass is extremely light and is perfectly balanced, making it effortless to play on those 5-set nights. The pan control alone offers tons of "color," providing everything from super PBass from the neck pickup, to killin' Jass Bass sounds from the bridge pickup. The Thunderguts switch adds a pronounced "darker" character to the sound, more approximating vintage tones (I prefer leaving the switch off, for a cleaner, slightly more modern tone). Unlike some basses which "lose it" on the D and G strings, this bass has an extremely even character across all the strings and in all positions.
The neck is thin and fast; in the five years I've had the bass, the neck has never needed tweaking, the action has always been unchanged, and the intonation remains flawless... even on the last fret!
Minor niggles: wiring in the control cavity could be neater, but all solder joints are shrink-sleeved. For such an amazing bass, it's surprising to find the single 9V battery "floating" unrestrained, wrapped in a think piece of bubble-wrap held on with a rubber band... not what you'd expect on such an otherwise fine instrument. Also, the control cavity cover fastens with 3 wood screws, which will eventually strip out. In Pedulla's defense, however, battery life is approximately 1000 hours! Also, although the electronics are extremely quiet, there is a very slight amount of ground buzz when you're not touching the bass, despite the excellent shielding job.
All-in-all, this is a superb bass. You can dial in just about any sound imagineable, it's a joy to play, records well, soundmen have continuously been blown away by its cut in the mix, and it looks great too. I would recommend Pedullas to anyone considering acquiring a quality instrument that will last forever.
