As far as Im concerned, Rickenbacker produce the finest basses available... and this is the best model!! If you want to increase your stage presence, this bass is the ultimate. Looking at the 4001CS it looks like it has 36 frets and is 3 miles long. When you actually play it you realise that size is an illusion and it is a very comfortable bass. The neck profile is non-standard and has been reshaped to suit Chris' specifications. You can tell instantly its a players bass. I dont know how to stress how good this thing is!!! It is very versatile in tone, on the bridge humbucker with the tone knob cranked it sounds like.. you're worried if your amp can handle it. On the neck pickup it has amazing warmth that Ive only heard a couple of times with other basses. You have to play one!!!! The fretboard is laquered which sounds shit, however, I dislike basses without laquered fretboards now. You dont know how good it is until you play it. I rang Rickenbacker enquiring if there was any left (they are 1 of 1000 limited edition), they put me onto a shop in LA that shipped it to me with a 25% discount for being referred from the factory... Thats service. If you can find one, BUY IT. You will never regret it
