I have been using this bass for four years now. I have had very little trouble with it. The only maintenance that I have done on it is adjust the truss rod from time to time and clean the pots.
Some people have a problem with the Rick tone, but I find it very versitle. I can get knock you over lows and glass shattering highs. I agree that you can't get a lot of mid range out of it, but I can't stand the mid range on the bass guitar anyway. If you love to slap, this isn't the bass for you.
The stereo out jack is a very neat and uncommon feature. What it does is the high pickup (bridge) comes out one channel and the low pickup (neck) comes out another. I use it to split the two pickups, put a light chorus on the high pickup and eq it a little more to my liking using a simple DOD three effect pedal. I recombine the two signals run it into my amp and get one killer bass tone. I think I've said enough about this bass.
