If you love Rickenbackers, you'll love this bass. If you DISlike Rickenbackers, you'll still love this bass. Very warm, aggressive, sounds like pickups are active and the high-end sounds chorused because this bass SINGS! This bass is as enjoyable to look at is as it is to play. Throw some Rotosounds on this bass and the bass will attain a refined "growl."

I was never a huge fan of Rickenbacker's playability or looks, but playing this bass changed my mind. I compared it to two Warwicks, some Music Mans, four G&Ls, two Modulus "Flea" 4-strings, and its sound and playability blew these away (the G&Ls came close). Love the "dotted" fretboard, a 1st (and likely last) for Rickenbacker. I've adjusted to the the metal pickup guard, which took some time, but that adds to the appearance. I like Yes, but did not buy this bass because of Squire; I bought it because of the tones and versatility. Between this bass and my Fender Jazz, I feel I can cover a broad spectrum of sound. Lastly, the tone controls are inverted from a normal Rickenback.

NOTE: This bass is a collector's item, as I've already been offered twice what I paid for it from a local store (besides the great tone). So, I don't think you can go wrong buying this bass if you can still find one.
