I waited to try this bass for a long time. Finally I found one in Pawtuket Rhode Island in a little hole in the wall vintage store. This bass is much much better that the V63 version. I found the V63 had a nice sound and a nice twang but it wasn't vintage. Actually my 4003 with Thomastik flats had a better McCartney sound than the V63. However the C64 is built to perfection. The headstock has been reversd to a lefty giving it the McCartney look (his lefty bass had a righty headtstock). The bass is beautiful and has that rich deep Fireglow paintjob. It's a step above the stock Fireglow on the 4003. Enough about looks. The sound is what really gets me! If you play a Little Help With My Friends, Rain, Your Mother Should Know, Walrus etc.... the sound is right there! I flipped out. I've had all kinds of Ricks (right now I also have the 4003 & 4004 Cheyenne)but this one is THE ONE. It's a bit pricey but it really is custom work and with so few out there I just bit the bullet! I've recorded with it using the Line 6 Bass Pod. I just punch in the Vox setting and tweak up the compression a bit more and PRESTO! If you like Rick basses you'll love this one. PS: The Horseshoe pickup is metal and it actually functions... not like the plastic cover on the 4003.
