Never have I felt a need to express my satisfaction with a purchase as strongly as with this one. Roger Sadowsky has with this model incorporated as much of the early Fender L-series tone as he could and mixed it with everything you would expect from a Sadowsky(flawless finish/construction, the famous pre-amp etc.)This model also has a full size body (normally sadowsky's are a bit smaller) and the neck has a more curve feel (9" instead of 12"). This help give the bass a more vintage fender-like feel which I personally prefer, having played fender basses for some time. My problem was that all the fender's I've tried always had some sort of problem, the Sadowsky is PERFECT.

Regarding construction and finish the bass is outstanding, I have never seen a more flawless piece of work, the gorgeous slightly "creamy" olympic white coupled with the beatiful "redish" brazilian rosewood simply blew my away when I first lay my eyes on this baby. It kind of speaks classy style and vintage at the same time. Also it has a great looking matching headstock in the style of the pre-cbs fenders. Soundwise the bass will get you as close to the l-series jazz bass tone as you can get, but still without loosing the sadowsky "magic", the bass rings and resonates soooooo great. What I really like is that you can actually hear the wood and warm acoustic sound coming through your speaker. The pre-amp warms up the sound even more and with the tone control you can dial up a variety of sounds. The 2-band pre-amp gives you the opportunity to go from a passive vintage sound to a more modern sound with a simple touch, I guess this is the sound people refer to as a "fender on steroids". I can hardly see myself not playing through this pre-amp, it really makes the bass in a class of it's own. Also, the bass is the most even sounding I have ever played.

Furthermore you will not find a more service-minded business than Sadowsky, Roger answers the phone himself and is always helpful and takes his time to make sure you get what you want. The price is high, but for the smile it puts on my face everytime I play it I think it's a bargain...That's why I recently ordered my second Sadowsky! Overall the best in fender-style instruments, flawless in every way!
