The Light Rock Masters are simply awesome strings. I replaced a set of Fender Stainless 7250s with them and was pleased to no end with the results. Despite an all-around drop of .005" thickness (I had previously used .045-.065-.085-.105), no lows were lost. More importantly, the high-end clarity granted by the Smiths is amazing! With a light attack, you can hear a bit more top end, which is pleasing to the ear. Dig in a little, though, and the sound just OPENS UP. We're talking grand piano here, kiddies--especially in the lower registers. I knew I had something good when I first plugged in and plucked an open E, and thought I was playing my parents' 6'3" Baldwin. I slapped them a few times and they sounded great.

Another nice thing: they're loud. New strings are always louder than old ones, but these were really, really loud. The compressor LED on my amp is staying on every second I'm playing.

One possible downside for many players: they're coarse, like most stainless-steel strings. Definitely not newbie strings. (Of course, I learned with Fender OEM stainless steels, and I got major calluses...)

Overall, I'd say that these are excellent strings. They're also a good deal less expensive than anything comparable, and they have a picture of an awesome Smith bass on the front. What more could one ask for?
