The electronics are also pretty unique. Both pickups are set quite far back near the bridge, which gives the bass a naturally brighter sound. The preamp is also quite unique. It's an 18Volt circuit consisting of a master volume, pickup blend, 3-way mid-cut/boost switch with a parametric sweep (the middle position bypasses this control) and, a tone control that only affects the rear pickup!?! This is a very powerful combination although, to be honest, it seems criminal to alter the natural sound of this bass.
Basically, this is an excellent and very versatile instrument. If you currently play a musicman or fender fretless and fancy something more up to date, this might be for you.
My only complaints are as follows: The strap button on the upper horn is in a strange position (pointing down, underneath the horn). This causes the bass to sit at a strange angle. Still, this was nothing that a small drill bit couldn't fix :)
The front-mounted jack is a little flimsy. If you intend using a heavy-duty instrument cable (i.e. Monster or Planet Waves), you'll probably want to invest in a lead with an angled plug.
