The word "awesome" is greatly overused, but there is no other word to describe this bass. I ordered it sight unseen from the manufacturer based on my conversation with owner J.D. Lewis about my playing style and types of music played. When I opened the regal purple lined hardshell case I was amazed. I had seen photos of their basses on their website (warriorinstruments.com) but they certainly didn't prepare me for for what lay in the case. It was without a doubt the most beautiful instrument I have ever seen. Bear in mind that this is their STANDARD version. The weight (@ 9pounds) feels much lighter because of the balance of the bass. Knowing that looks are only half of the story, I couldn't wait to plug it in. OH my God! The tones that you can dial in have to be heard to be fully believed. I picked up the phone to call a laughing J.D. at the plant. "I knew you'd love it" was his only response. It does everything from mellow finger style to the most aggressive slap, and does it the best of ANY bass I've ever played. This bass can easily keep up with or blow away anything out there at twice the price. Chuck Rainey recently saw one at the NAMM show and had to have one, what more needs to be said? I was so impressed with this bass I made the 8 hour trip to the facility to meet JD and to see how these things are made. His showroom should be called an art gallery. These are incredible pieces that are all hand made and can run up to $20,000.00 for the collector versions.(I would rather have 10 like mine for that price!). I can now see why he has such a loyal following and return customers. While I was there I picked out the second Warrior that will be coming to my house soon;a new version of the Soldier that is contoured differently and stained a beautiful tobacco sunburst. You can custom order your instrument (finish, pickup configurations, fretboard materials, metal colors, etc.)to insure that your investment is exactly what you want. If you're thinking about a new bass and are willing to pay just a little more that what the "cookie cutter" companies charge, then you owe it to yourself to look into Warrior. I wish I could find some fault in them so that I would feel a little more objective, but I just couldn't.
