The first thing you notice is the bass' appearance. It looks like something from the nightclub scene in the first Star Wars flick. And it is very well made.
It sounds really nice and growly, with plenty of low end. The piezo pickups were too scratchy for me so I turned the treble all the way down and it made a huge difference. I also occasionally stick a piece of foam rubber under the strings near the bridge and this makes it sound very much like a real upright bass.
I love it! For a bass guiatrist wanting to play upright once in awhile it's perfect! If you're a real upright player seeking a more electric, portable instrument, you will not like the 34" scale.
